Woolworths Group plc today announces a series of senior personnel changes, including the appointment of a new Managing Director at wholly owned subsidiary Entertainment UK (EUK), as part of its ongoing development that matches management capability to the evolving requirements of the business.
Lloyd Wigglesworth has decided to leave his position as Managing Director of EUK and will also retire from the main Board. Since joining the Group in March 2004, Lloyd has led EUK through a significant change programme, including new customer wins, the acquisitions of THE and Bertram (including the successful response to the subsequent Competition Commission investigation), the effective integration of the new businesses and strengthening the EUK Board.
Steve Lewis, currently Managing Director for Retail and Distribution at Woolworths and a main Board Director, will assume the role of Managing Director of EUK. Steve brings with him a wealth of experience relevant to the EUK business. He has a proven track record in driving both availability and efficiency within complex distribution networks. With his retail background, Steve has unique insight into how EUK can enhance its delivery of the Entertainment offer to its now diversified customer base.
In addition, the Woolworths Group also announces two further non-main Board appointments – Simon Turner as Retail and Distribution Operations Director and Claire Tiney as Group Human Resources Director.
Trevor Bish-Jones, Chief Executive of Woolworths Group plc, said: 'This series of management changes will leave Woolworths Group better positioned as we move into 2008 determined to drive the businesses forward. EUK is now entering a different stage of its development, where the focus turns toward further improving customer service and enhancing operational efficiency. The new team is ideally suited to take EUK, now a substantial business with a strong market position, to the next phase of growth and to build on recent progress made in Woolworths.'
